Virtual Endowments and Other Flexible Charitable Giving Techniques Promises, Pledges, and Possibilities

Whether your clients have had a recent liquidity event that is drawing them to charitable giving, are approaching a time in their life where they are beginning to focus on charitable giving, or have been engaged in charitable giving over the years, it is good to have an arsenal of charitable techniques at hand and to understand how they may be used in a creative way so that the right type of communication is fostered between the charitable organization and the clients to make sure the clients’ gifts make a difference. Too many people jump ahead, sign pledge documents with a charity, and then get frustrated with how the charity applies their gifts. Understanding what the clients actually want and how to implement can make a world of difference, not only for the clients but also for the charitable organization. Ellen Whelan will speak on how to combine different charitable techniques and will provide hypotheticals illustrating how the end result provides tax benefits and achieves the charitable results desired by the clients.

Speaker:

Ellen Whelan

Ellen Whelan has over 30 years of experience in estate planning; estate, gift and generation-skipping taxation; family succession planning; stock option gifting; living trust formation and administration; irrevocable trust planning; charitable planning; and
life insurance planning.
