DESCRIPTION:\n\n \nYOU'RE INVITED\n \nFive Tax Train Wrecks and How to Avoid Them\n \nWith Sally Reddy and Danielle Barger\n \nEstate plans can derail when tax realities collide with poor implementation. This program examines five real-world tax train wrecks: estates with hard-to-value assets, taxable estates holding illiquid property, capital gains surprises in irrevocable trusts, tax reporting obligations for offshore asset-protection trusts, and improperly funded or administered trusts. Learn strategies to fix problems and planning techniques to prevent them.\n \nSally Reddy, J.D., LL.M. | Reddy Tax Law\n \nSally Reddy, J.D., LL.M. specializes in tax dispute resolutions and represents businesses and individuals in IRS, FTB, EDD, and CDTFA tax audits and collections. Sally discovered her passion for tax law through the simple act of helping people understand their tax returns. After law school, she volunteered as a military VITA clinic, where she would turn completed returns upside down and walk taxpayers through every line. She explained where each number came from and highlighted deductions they were missing. Most clients were astounded. No one had ever taken the time to truly educate them about their own finances. For Sally, that experience was transformative. She realized that tax law wasn't just about numbers and regulations. It was about empowering people to make informed decisions about their financial lives. That passion led her to tax controversy work, where she saw business owners struggling to navigate audits and collection notices without clear guidance. Sally is actively involved in the California Lawyers Association Women in Tax committee and the tax section of the San Diego County Bar Association. Sally obtained her Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from the University of Memphis School of Law and her Masters of Laws in Taxation (LL.M.) from New York University. Sally can be reached at sally@reddytaxlaw.com.\n \nDanielle P. Barger | Barger & Battiest Law, APC\n \nDanielle P. Barger is a Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. Her practice focuses on delivering sophisticated, yet practical estate and business planning solutions tailored to each client's long-term goals. Ms. Barger is committed to guiding families through important life decisions that can shape their legacy for generations. A significant portion of her practice involves advising non-traditional families, including LGBTQIA+ clients, to ensure their estate plans reflect their unique relationships. In addition to estate planning, Ms. Barger counsels business owners on entity formation, succession planning, and asset protection strategies. She believes business and estate planning should work together seamlessly to preserve wealth and promote smooth transitions. Having owned and operated her own law firm for eight years before launching her current firm in 2020, she brings firsthand insight into the legal and practical challenges entrepreneurs face. Ms. Barger holds an LL.M. in Taxation from Loyola Law School, along with degrees from the University of Southern California, UCLA, and Thomas Jefferson School of Law. A San Diego native, she remains active in professional organizations and enjoys lifelong learning, time with her family, and seeing the shock of friends and clients when she surprises them with her knowledge of and passion for cars.
